Terms of Access

The conditions on which onyxbrief.com is published and may be read, and the limits of what an independent editorial site can promise.

In effect from 1 September 2026

1. Who publishes this site

onyxbrief.com is published by Dylan Thompson, a private individual resident at 3294 E 29th Ave, Vancouver, British Columbia V5R 1W4, Canada, reachable on +1 604-433-3484 and at news@onyxbrief.com. There is no company, partnership or agency behind the site. Reading the site means accepting the conditions set out below; if any of them is unacceptable to you, the remedy is to stop reading.

2. What this site is

OnyxBrief is an independent editorial publication about dessert-themed mobile games. It describes games, quotes their store listings and offers an opinion about how they play. It is not a shop, not a store, not a download service and not a directory operated on anyone's behalf.

The site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected in any way to Flipline Studios, Zynga Inc., Google LLC, Google Play, Pragmatic Play or any other developer, publisher, storefront or brand mentioned anywhere on it. No relationship of agency, partnership or joint venture exists with any of them. Where a trade mark or product name appears, it appears for the purpose of identifying the game being discussed, and remains the property of its owner.

3. Acceptable use

You may read the site, quote it with attribution and link to it freely. You may not:

  • republish substantial parts of the editorial text as your own, or present it as originating anywhere other than here;
  • use automated tools in a way that degrades the service for other readers;
  • attempt to gain access to any part of the hosting environment that is not publicly published;
  • use the site or its address in a manner that is unlawful, deceptive or harmful to a third party.

4. Intellectual property

The editorial text, the layout, the wordmark and the arrangement of the pages are the work of the operator and are protected by Canadian copyright law. All rights in them are reserved.

Screenshots, application icons, game titles, character designs and studio names belong to their respective rights holders. They appear on this site in reduced form, in the course of commentary and criticism about the games they depict, and no claim of ownership is made over them. A rights holder who would prefer a particular image not to appear may write to the address in section 1, and it will be taken down promptly on request without argument.

5. Store listings, prices and refunds

Every price, rating, review count, developer name and package identifier shown here is copied from the Google Play storefront for Canada as it read at the time of writing in 2026. Store figures change without notice and this site is not updated in real time. The listing itself is always the authority.

This site sells nothing and receives no commission on anything you install. A paid title is obtained by a one-time purchase in the Google Play store; the store records the transaction, and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own published rules, to which the operator is not a party and over which the operator has no influence. Questions about a charge, a refund or a family payment setting belong to Google Play support, not to this desk.

6. Accuracy and absence of warranty

The site is offered as it stands. Considerable care goes into every entry, but no promise is made that the content is complete, current or free from error, that a game will behave on your device as it behaved on the operator's, or that the site will be available without interruption. Editorial judgements are opinions held in good faith at the time of publication, not statements of fact, and nothing here is advice on which a decision with financial consequences should rest without checking the store listing first.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by the law of British Columbia, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site, from reliance on anything published here, or from the unavailability of the site. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for wilful misconduct, and nothing in it displaces any right you have under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (SBC 2004, c. 2) or any other consumer protection statute that applies to you.

8. External destinations

References to store listings, studios, regulators and other public bodies are provided for convenience. The operator does not control those destinations, does not endorse them by naming them and is not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.

9. Complaints

If something on this site is wrong, unfair or unclear, write to news@onyxbrief.com and say plainly what the problem is and what you would like done about it. Every message is read by the person who wrote the page. An acknowledgement is sent within five business days and a substantive answer within thirty days. Corrections are made on the page itself rather than quietly, and a factual error is corrected whether or not the person reporting it is affected by it. Readers are asked to raise a matter this way before taking it anywhere else, so that it has a fair chance of being fixed.

10. Governing law and forum

These terms and any dispute arising out of them or out of the use of this site are governed by the law of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of laws rules. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, and the parties attorn to that jurisdiction. If you read the site as a consumer resident elsewhere in Canada, this clause does not remove the protection of mandatory rules of the province in which you habitually reside.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised as the site develops. The revised version applies from the effective date shown at the top of the page, and continuing to read the site after that date means accepting it. Earlier versions are not applied retroactively to conduct that took place while a previous version was in force.
